Cela étant dit, l’origine du mot « golf » n’est pas très claire. Il viendrait des Pays-Bas où se pratiquait un jeu appelé colf (colf est un dérivé du mot allemand kolbe signifiant bâton). Le mot a subi quelques variantes au fil des ans et aurait été vu sous la forme gouff avant de devenir « golf ».

That said, the origin of the word « golf » is not very clear. It is thought to have come from the Netherlands, where a game called colf was played (colf is a derivative of the German word kolbe meaning stick). The word has undergone a few variations over the years and would have been seen in the form gouff before becoming « golf.
